I called this piece “Inertia,” the tendency to remain unchanged unless prompted by an external force; at times, indecisiveness is hard to escape unless an external presence takes me one way or another.

This self-portrait explores the power of thoughts and emotions to dictate our reality. The squares represent my thoughts as they either fade into the ether of my mind or darken and obscure my present reality. Their presence erases me, symbolizing how thoughts can take over our self-image and cause us to lose touch with reality.
